The name HeLa® is inspired by the historic HeLa cells, which originated from the cells of Henrietta Lacks, a brilliant woman whose contribution to medical science became one of the most significant in modern history. Her cells were the first human cells found to be immortal, enabling unprecedented advances in medical research, including breakthroughs in cancer treatment, virology, genetics, and regenerative medicine.the first immortal human cell line to be widely used in medical research.
